I started small but

you rose me until

I became tall;

I joked because as

I rose up,

you dwindled down,

but you are the Greatest

for you are my mom

I was stupid,

but you gave me knowledge-

I cried lots,

but could rest on your shoulder-

I lied....

but you always forgave me.

and even though

every year

you become smaller

every year

you become greater still

you are the Greatest

for you are my Mom.
